Alerts
Mailing lists have been established to facilitate the transmission of electronic messages of an important, urgent and/or general nature to the university community.
The following lists are available:
- allstudents@mq.edu.au
- everyone@mq.edu.au to all staff
To ensure that this system is used in a proper and efficient manner all messages distributed through the facility are required to conform to the following procedure.
The Message
- An electronic copy of your message in plain text format has to be emailed to itservicedesk@mq.edu.au.
- Attachments are not permitted
- The message will not be proof read.
- Dictation over the phone will not be accepted.
The message has to include the following:
- Subject
- Name of the sender
- Email address of the sender
- The authorising executive / Senior officer
All the above criteria has to be satisfied prior to the message being sent. If not you will be advised.
To be a recipient of an everyone alert you will need to contact your local IT support Group.
Obtaining Authorisation
Before any message can be transmitted authorisation to send the message must be obtained from one of the University Executive/Senior Officers which are listed below:

- Prof. Steven Schwartz, Vice-Chancellor
- Prof. Jim Piper, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research)
- Prof. Judyth Sachs, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Provost)
- Mr. Paul Bowler, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer
- Ms. Caroline Trotman, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Development and External Relations
- Mr. Tim Sprague, Director, Human Resources
Messages cannot be sent directly by the staff and can only be sent by the ITS Service Desk.
Be patient
It may be at least an hour before the message starts appearing in individuals electronic mailboxes.
