IT Projects

 

The University has approved 6 portfolios of projects for 2008:

1. Stabilisation Programme - Year 2 (STAB Projects)

The Stabilisation Programme commenced in 2007 and is a three year programme aimed at stabilising the computer environment. The objective to increase the availability of the computer environment by redesigning the infrastructure to prevent unexpected downtime, and reduce planned downtime required for preventative maintenance. The approved projects for 2008 are:

2. IT Plan 2008 (ITP8 Projects)

Development and prioritisation of the 2008-2009 IT Plan was guided by the Committee for I.T. Planning around Academic Priorities. The plan identified 45 projects addressing the needs of 6 stakeholder groups, being Student Experience, Learning and Teaching, Research, Development and External, Strategic Programmes and Administration. The University has funded 14 projects in 2008:

The remaining projects will be reconsidered, updated and reprioritised for 2009 under the guidance of the Committee for I.T. Planning around Academic Priorities and submitted for funding in 2009. Click here for a list of projects considered but not funded in 2008.

3. Support for the Academic Restructure (ACAD Projects)

A number of IT systems require modification during 2008 to support the new Academic Structure to be implemented from 2009. A total of 9 projects have been recommended and are currently under consideration by the University Executive.

4. Audit Action Items (AUD8 Projects)

The Internal Audit function regularly reviews the operations of IT Services and the IT Infrastructure to identify risk areas requiring attention. Two projects are required to address currently identified risks:

5. ITS Process Improvements (ITS8 Projects)

ITS is committed to continuous improvement and regularly review its internal processes and procedures. Four process improvements are scheduled for 2008:

The University has a number of strategic projects underway. Although other organisational units are responsible for the project management of those projects, IT Services play a critical role during their design and implementation. IT Services will be assisting with 8 strategic projects in 2008:
