STAB26 - Network Usage Audit

Objective


To stabilise the University’s computer environment by eliminating malicious traffic.


Project
Description


This project will audit the use of the network (based on time sampling).  This information is required to understand the impact of setting network and security standards.


Key Outputs


  • Analysis of network traffic

  • Updated “Security Control Firewall Rule Set Document” to show protocols to be banned from campus.



Project Schedule


  • The project commenced in 2007 and is due for completion in Q2 2008.

In progress.  Monitors have been in place for six months and have collected a large amount of relevant data.  The data is yet to be analysed so that appropriate action can be taken.
