STAB20 - User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Environment

Project
Objective

To stabilise the IT environment by reducing the number of issues introduced by changes.

Project
Description

The University currently has ad hoc user testing environments but no environment where full integrated end to end testing can occur.  This means that the impact on systems when another system is changed cannot be fully assessed.  The purpose of this project is to use the Disaster Recovery Facility for this purpose (when it is not required for DR purposes).  It is assumed that technical testing by IT Services has been completed prior to being handed over to the UAT environment (refer STAB13 ITS Test Environment).

Key Outputs

  • Testing policy agreed by MIS Managers Committee and System Owners and approved by Director IT Services.

  • Relevant principals for a Information Privacy Policy approved by COO.

  • Testing procedures to support the agreed testing policy.

  • Testing tools.

  • Test models and test data.

  • Ability to refresh test data in accordance with policy.

Project Schedule

Project due to commence in 2008.  Detailed schedule yet to be developed.  Must be completed prior to transitioning support of the production environment to a Managed Services third party (if this proceeds), so that testing can occur without impacting the production environment.  This will require the environment to be available by no later than end Q3 2008.
