IT Projects

• 2007

  A three year programme to stabilise the computer environment has been developed and is described below. 
  The objective is to increase the availability of the computer environment by

• improving the reliability to prevent unexpected downtime, and
• to redesign it to reduce the amount of planned downtime required to complete preventative maintenance.
  

University management has approved year 1 of the plan and it is currently underway.  The University is forming a new IT Governance Committee to be chaired by the Provost, Prof Judith Sachs.  The committee will consider the most appropriate strategic IT directions required to support learning, teaching and research and this strategy will determine the work to be undertaken by IT Services in 2008 and beyond. Years 2 and 3 of the Stabilisation Plan will be considered in light of other strategic requirements are subject to approval by the new Governance Committee.
