Visual Messenger
Visual Messenger allows a voicemail user to access voicemail messages using a computer. With Visual Messenger, you can:
- View a summary of what is in your mailbox
- Select and manage messages
- Create personal group lists
- Record a personal greeting
- Download messages to your computer hard drive for permanent storage
Because you can see all of your messages, you can quickly decide which messages you want to listen to now. You can listen to and create messages and address them by typing in a name or by selecting a name from an address book. You can reply to a message, forward it, save it, or erase it.
Client PC Requirements
The minimum requirements for Visual Messenger to run on client computers are as follows:
- Intel 486 33Mhz processor
- 24 MB RAM
- 60 MB free hard disk space
- VGA colour monitor at 256 colours
- Keyboard and mouse
- Sound Card and speakers
- Network Integration Card connected to campus network
- Microsoft Windows 95/98, NT, ME, 2000, XP
Getting Connected
If your PC meets the software requirements you need to contact the IT Helpdesk on extension 4357 to have Visual Messenger automatically installed on your PC. If you wish to install the software yourself you can download the Visual Messenger client software to your personal computer by clicking here. (File: vmessenger.exe)
Visual Messenger Client Software Installation
Once you have downloaded the file to your system click on VisualMessenger.exe to install the program.
The installation will take a couple of minutes to complete.
Once completed, open visual messenger from your windows Start Menu.
Enter your name, extension number and mailbox number and password when prompted. Your extension number and mailbox number are the same number. Your password is the four digit code you use to access your voicemail via the telephone.

Note: Receiving and sending fax messages is not supported by this software.
Trouble shooting
The Visual Messenger client may not operate if the network connection has a firewall preventing access to the Visual Messenger server. If this is the case it is recommended that Visual Messenger be removed from the client PC.
